About this site
Free calculators for the 2025–2028 tip and overtime deductions, built to be checkable rather than merely confident.
Why this exists
The One Big Beautiful Bill Act created two deductions that affect millions of hourly and tipped workers, and the rules are unintuitive enough that most explanations get them wrong. The commonest error is treating overtime pay as deductible when only the FLSA premium counts — roughly a third of what the worker was actually paid for those hours.
How the calculators work
The calculation engine mirrors IRS Schedule 1-A (Form 1040) line by line. Every figure shown ties back to a numbered line on the real form, so you can check the arithmetic against your own worksheet instead of taking our word for it. The engine is covered by a boundary test suite that pins the threshold edges, the caps, and the phase-out rounding.
Nothing you type is sent anywhere. The calculators run entirely in your browser — there is no account, no submission, and no server that sees your income.
How state data is handled
Every jurisdiction on the state conformity pages carries the source it was checked against and the date it was reviewed. Where a state’s treatment could not be tied to a source, the page says so rather than guessing. See the methodology page for the full list of rules and citations.
This is not tax advice
These are educational estimates. They cannot see your full return, and they do not account for everything that might affect your situation. Check anything that matters with a tax professional or your state revenue department before you file. We are not affiliated with the Internal Revenue Service, the Treasury, or any government agency.
