Box 12 · tax year 2026

What is Box 12 Code TT on your W-2?

Code TT is the FLSA-required overtime premium — the 'half' in time-and-a-half, not your total overtime pay.

What the figure represents

Box 12 code TT reports your qualified overtime compensation under IRC §225. Critically, this is only the premium portion the Fair Labor Standards Act requires: hours past 40 in a workweek, multiplied by one half of your regular rate. If you worked 220 overtime hours at a $28 regular rate, you were paid $9,240 for those hours but code TT shows $3,080.

What to do with it

Carry the amount into Schedule 1-A (Form 1040), Part III, lines 14 to 21. Your employer has already reduced it to the qualifying premium, so enter it exactly as printed rather than recalculating.

Does it change your withholding?

No. This box is informational only. It does not alter federal income tax withholding, and it does not reduce Social Security or Medicare tax — those still come out of the same wages as before.

Why it appeared this year

Employers were not required to report these amounts separately for tax year 2025, so this is the first W-2 on which the figure appears. That is a reporting change, not a change to what you earned.
